Relationship/Marital Problems

As human beings one of the most rewarding and satisfying things in our lives is developing a loving relationship with another person. We are all social creatures and it is our nature to love and to want to be loved back. However, this does not mean that relationships are always easy. On the contrary, they can be hard work and often we learn the most about ourselves when we become emotionally connected to another person.

Relationships most always bring out the best in us, but, at times, they can also bring out the worst in us due to us feeling vulnerable emotionally. Relationships can also bring up some of our own deep rooted psychological issues that may confuse us. Some people may repeat maladaptive patterns in relationships without being able to understand why they do so.

Couples also can develop problems in their relationship or marriage due to the dynamics changing from various things which could include having a baby or losing a job or moving to a new city etc.

Some of the most important factors in developing and maintaining a healthy relationship include clear and direct communication, mutual respect, being open with our feelings and accepting that our significant other is not perfect. Relationships can be hard, but they are definitely worth it and enrich our human existence.
