LGBT / Coming Out Issues

Having a therapist you can trust is important for everyone, however it is especially important for someone in the LGBT community.

I have had clients tell me some horror stories about how previous therapists looked down on their lifestyle and have passed judgement on them. I even had one client tell me how a previous therapist he worked with told him they would “pray the gay away!” I felt horrible for this client. It takes a lot of courage to come into a therapists office and bear your soul so to speak. It certainly doesn’t make things easier if the therapist is judgmental and not open minded. If that is the case you should run out of their office as fast as you can!

I have worked with various LGBT people throughout the years, from individual counseling to same-sex couples counseling. I have also worked with clients with gender identity issues and have helped some of them to transition and provided letters for them to do so (however client must be over the age of 18).

I have also worked with families who are struggling with accepting their child’s sexual orientation and I help educate the families and improve relationships for all family members involved.

If you are an LGBT person and would like to speak with me about possibly setting up an appointment or would just like to ask me some questions, please feel free to contact me.
