You may have asked yourself this question at some point.

The term depression is used a lot in today’s society, people might say “I have had a bad day, I’m depressed”.  However there is a very big difference between just having regular every day blues and having a diagnosable clinical depression.

Some of the symptoms of clinical depression include:

  • Feelings of intense sadness
  • Lack of motivation/feeling lethargic
  • Either sleeping too much or not enough
  • Feelings of hopelessness
  • Appetite changes/weight loss or weight gain
  • Impaired concentration/difficulty focusing
  • Loss of interest in activities that once you used to enjoy
  • Recurring thoughts of death or suicide

If you or a loved one are struggling with depression, the good news is that there is help and treatment available.   Different types of treatments include counseling and therapy as well as medication management for symptoms.

Many times people who are suffering from depression do not even realize that there could be a physical or chemical reason contributing to their depression.  Sometimes people may feel like there is no hope in getting better.  This could not be further from the truth.

There is help available so you can get back on track and start enjoying life again.  There is no reason to continue living with this debilitating illness.

The first step is getting help.   You do not have to go through this alone.
